DEATHS DOOR BBQ DONATES $6000

Death's Door Barbeque (DDBBQ) is excited to be making four donations totaling $6000 to our Island community and a Door County Non Profit.

DDBBQ is donating $2000 to the Washington Island Foundation Inc. which has matching funds available to grow this gift. This will provide a total of $4000 for continued, critically needed updates at the REC Center such as HVAC improvements and new lockers. The REC is vital to the health and wellness of our Island community.

The Town of Washington will also be receiving $2000 from the committee as they have partnered with the DDBBQ for 10 years of competitions allowing for use of the airport and its facilities for the event and accommodating the large crowd that attends from the Island, County, and beyond.

The DDBBQ committee also likes to support on and off-Island Non Profits. This year, both Washington Island Community Health Program (WICHP) and Door-Tran will be receiving $1000 each for their participation in easing the difficulties that our residents face with leading healthy, safe lifestyles and transportation off Island.

WICHP services and programs help allow community members to remain in their homes safely and independently. Their organizational mission statement is “Empowering and supporting Washington Island residents across generations to make informed choices for a successful, healthy, safe, and independent lifestyle. WICHP establishes links between Island residents and service providers not available on Washington Island.” Their success comes directly from our community members identifying, understanding, and requesting their resources and services.

Door-Tran is a creative community network dedicated to connecting people to transportation services that are affordable, available, and accessible. There are no one-size fits all solutions to the transportation needs that residents face. They offer information and referral services to help navigate the transportation options that best fit each situation that may arise.

DDBBQ is happy to give back to the on- and off-Island communities that give so much and help make this competition such a fun success!
